Our First Natal Visit

Yes, today was the day of our first natal visit. We got to see the heart beat (a huge relief to see it!!) and even got some snap shots of the baby.
The top arrow in the photo is of the baby-really use your imagination...And the bottom arrow is showing where the heart is. So far, everything looks normal and healthy!

Pregnancy Symptoms...

I have been very fortunate so far. I have experienced minimal morning sickness. I know I have snapped at poor, unsuspecting Daniel a couple of times. But my biggest symptoms, being tired. If possible, I nap several times a day. And when I work, I come home pure and utterly exhausted. I have been doing my absolute best getting as much sleep and rest as possible. Also, exercise and the constant desire for fruit and salads is helping. Annnnd, my daily prenatal multi vitamin, which I have taken every single day.

Naegele's Rule

Naegele's Rule is a standard way of calculating the due date for a pregnancy. It is something Daniel and I learned while in nursing school. This is how the rule works:

Last Menstral Period = 15 July 2009 (was mine)
So you:
+1 year = 15 July 2010
-3 months = 15 April 2010
+7 days = 22 April 2010

Our expected due date is April 22, 2010. I am hoping to hold out until April 28th, that is my dad's birthday. Wouldn't that be a great gift? :-)

Also, I would like to mention at this time, my cousin Beatriz, is approximately the same week of pregnancy as I. And Amanda and Bob, who are expecting their second baby and her due date is April 1st! Congratulations you guys!!

Going to the Doctor...

Just to make sure, I set up an appointment with my new PCP to do a blood test to confirm the home pregnancy test's results. I got a call early Aug. 20th confirming with a blood test, Daniel and I are going to be parents! That is when we started to spread the wonderful news!

A Welcomed Suprise!!!

After not feeling well for a few days and just getting back from Tucson, Daniel and I went to Target on Sunday, August 16th to pick up a home pregnancy test. Much to our suprise and delight, the home test's Clear Blue results said: pregnant. Not quite believing the first test, I woke up the next morning at an early-3:51 am and took the other test. Which said the very same thing: pregnant! Daniel and I, along with our parents, are very, very excited!
Although you can see the coffee bean grinder better, along with the trash, well, you still get the idea!
